Biography

Mr.Nor-Eddine BENFREHA is Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Commonwealth of Australia since September 2022. He is also accredited as nonresident Ambassador to: New-Zealand, the Republic of Fiji and the  Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. 

Prior to his appointment, Mr. BENFREHA was aDirector responsible of the consular affairs, at headquarters and served as an acting Director and a deputy Director, in charge of the cooperation with the European Union and the European Institutions and a Deputy Director of the Mediterranean security issues.

He worked on an extensive range of multilateral diplomatic issues, especially in the frame of the United Nations System, at the Permanent Missions of Algeria in New York and in Geneva. His first assignment abroad was at the Algerian Embassy in Rabat.

As a career diplomat, M.Nor-Eddine BENFREHA joined the Algerian diplomacy in 1986 and started working  in the Multilateral Affairs Department.

He graduated from the National School of Administration (Diplomatic studies section) and holds a Doctorate and Magister degrees in Political Sciences and international relations.

Mr.BENFREHA is the author of two books: the first one on “Transnational Firms and globalization: the Algerian experience”, the second one entitled “Multilateral diplomacy at the United Nations and the Algerian contributions”.

He is fluent in Arabic, French and English and has intermediate level in Spanish.

Mr.BENFREHA is married and father of three children.
