CERTIFICATION & LEGALISATION
Parental authorisation for travel
Algerian minors travelling from/to Algeria alone or with his/her mother, must have a parental authorisation for travel signed by their father. This document is required by the Algerian authorities at any border control point.
The documents required for this purpose are:
- The application form, thoroughly filled in and signed by the legal guardian,
- A copy of the applicant’s valid consular registration card or an Algerian photo ID,
- Payment of $2.50 USD or $5.00 AUD fee applies
- A self addressed registered or express post envelope for the return of the documents.
Important
- Parental authorisation for travel is not required when the minor’s parents are divorced or separated on condition that:
- The minor lives abroad with his mother;
- The mother holds a court order for full custody, which must be shown as evidence by the mother when leaving Algeria.
The legalisation or certification of any foreign personal documents (birth certificate, graduation, certificate of employment, criminal record or identification …) must be submitted first for certification by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trades of Australia, New Zealand or one of the South Pacific Countries, to authenticate the signature.
The documents required are:
- The document to be legalised or certified (after certification by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade);
- Payment of $2.50 USD or $ 5.00 AUD fee applies,
- Prepaid Registered Post envelope for the return of the documents.
The legalisation or certification of any foreign commercial documents must be submitted first for certification by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia, New Zealand or one of the South Pacific Countries, to authenticate the signature.
Documents required are:
- The document (s) to be legalised or certified (after certification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs);
- If within Australia, a payment of $160 AUD fee applies, (per document) payable by money order,
- If outside Australia, a transfer of $ 75 USD fee ( per document) into our bank account, see details below:

The power of attorney (procuration) is a document issued to Algerian nationals who reside in Australia ,New zealand and the South Pacific Countries to appoint someone to carry out an administrative or judicial procedure on his behalf in Algeria, but it cannot be used for marriage.
Documents required for the power of attorney (procuration):
- The application form, thoroughly filled in and signed by the applicant;
- A copy of the applicant’s valid Algerian passport,
- A payment of $6.25 USD or $10.00 AUD fee applies,
- A self addressed registered or express post envelope for the return of the documents.
