The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lounes Mokhtar, received Mr. Ahmed Dunuma Omar, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, during his visit to Algeria.

This meeting provided an opportunity to review the historical relations of friendship, cooperation, and consultation between Algeria and Nigeria in the political, economic, and energy sectors. They also discussed the major strategic partnership projects undertaken by the two countries to accelerate development and strengthen infrastructure across the African continent, notably the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP), the Trans-Saharan Highway, and the Trans-Saharan Fiber Optic Network. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to these projects.

The two sides also discussed the agenda of visits and bilateral cooperation mechanisms scheduled for the second half of this year and exchanged views on key regional and international issues of common interest.
