The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lounes Mokhtar, received Mr. Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Turki, Secretary General of the Green Middle East Initiative, at the Ministry headquarters on August 4, 2026, during his working visit to Algeria.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review opportunities and prospects for cooperation with the organization in priority areas, in line with Algeria's vision on sustainable development and climate change, and in accordance with the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The two sides also discussed preparations for Algeria to assume the presidency of the Initiative's Ministerial Council for the 2027 term.

This meeting also served as an opportunity to emphasize the importance of enhancing regional cooperation in the environmental field to address climate challenges, particularly desertification, land degradation, and drought.
