On the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, participated in a meeting dedicated to the theme: "Security and Development in the Sahel: The Case of the Alliance of Sahel States."

In his address, the Minister of State highlighted the deep historical ties binding Algeria to its Sahelian neighbors and reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to fostering bonds of brotherhood, solidarity, good-neighborliness, and cooperation across all areas of mutual interest, in a manner that meets the region's aspirations for development, stability, and prosperity.

The Minister of State emphasized Algeria’s firm and clear commitment to respecting the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Sahelian states, as well as their right to determine the means to ensure their own security and development—in cooperation with their partners and free from any external interference.

Mr. Ahmed Attaf also underscored the comprehensive approach consistently advocated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. This approach is grounded in the intrinsic link between security and development as a means to address the multidimensional challenges facing the region's nations, with the aim of advancing resolutely and effectively toward a promising future for the region as a whole.
