President Tebboune’s message marks 71st anniversary of Liberation Revolution

ALGIERS - The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, delivered on Friday a message to the Algerian people marking the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious November 1st Revolution (1 November 1954 - 2025). The full message is translated by APS as follows:
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful,
Peace and blessings be upon His Messenger,
On November 1st, we commemorate together the day the Algerian people sparked the immortal and blessed Liberation Revolution.. a historic and pivotal day that followed decades of popular resistance and national struggle—long, brutal and blood-soaked decades, during which the people endured tremendous hardships as they faced settler colonialism, standing against its wicked ambitions and aggression, and rejecting through all available means of resistance the seizure of their land, the violation of their history and the distortion of their identity.
Through its successive stages, the resistance demonstrated the Algerian people’s unwavering attachment to the land, history and deep-rooted Algerian identity throughout the dark colonial period. It represented a heroic accumulation that gave birth to the armed struggle.. a full-scale war of liberation that claimed millions of martyrs and left countless widows, orphans and disabled. The people's resistance also affirmed the spirit of resistance inherent in the Algerian character and embedded a fierce sense of protectiveness over national sovereignty in the nation’s collective consciousness.
On this 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious Liberation Revolution, as we proudly celebrate the glory of generations who fought relentless battles throughout Algeria, we do so to turn our loyalty to their sacrifices into a wellspring of resolve and an authentic source nourishing a collective awareness rooted in our glorious history. This is the compass guiding Algeria—during this critical phase—toward bolstering the pillars of the rising national state, and stoking the unifying national spirit among devoted patriots and active forces, especially the youth, to safeguard the country against the turbulent situation in our region and the severe conflicts and ruptures in international relations the world is facing today.
We rely on our own capabilities, through a liberated, wealth-producing economic performance, and on the consciousness and patriotism of Algeria’s sons and daughters who, on this occasion, stand tall as builders of the present and future, walking in the footsteps of our righteous martyrs—may Allah envelop their pure souls in His mercy—driven by the determination of the sincere people working to advance the homeland and serve the people.
Long live Algeria,
Glory and eternity to our valiant martyrs,
May peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.
